Roof completion
Thanks to support from local roofers we’ve managed to get the roof completed. Resplendent in Welsh slate, looking great, and most importantly’water tight’.

Our new ridge tiles. I say ‘new’, they’re recycled from a 150 year old church. Beautiful, traditional craftsmanship and a modern ‘no mortar’ way of connecting them.
It’s great to see that w our electricity totally provided through solar power at this point – by the time we get to the end of August the gas will have gone also and the airsource heatpump will replace it.
Here is a picture of the recycled insulation we’re putting in the loft. Then it will be completely floored – other than air ways for ventilation – and shelving added for storage. It’s made from old newspapers.
We recently met up with an architect, Luke, who’s a part of Preston’s Climate Jury who are looking at green solutions for the city. Good to see that retrofit was high up on the recommendations list.
The solar panels are in place, waiting to be connected – very exciting. We will of course need some sun though! Roof getting there too.
Tony & Liam took out trainee’s Nicola & Maria to get their safety gear today, so that they could start to get more involved in the site works.
